Being a member of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Virginia satisfies the desire of young people to have a Club of their own. Children and teens of all races, religions and ethnic cultures are welcome. We are open daily after school, all day during the summer, and our membership dues are kept low, so all young people can afford to join. Scholarships are also available so NO CHILD IS EVER TURNED AWAY FOR BEING UNABLE TO PAY.
On October 4, 2010, our first newly constructed Club opened its doors to the City of Charlottesville. With 24,000 square feet of space, the new LEED designed building can serve daily up to 400 kids ages 6-18, located right next to Buford Middle School off Cherry Avenue.
Our Members engage in a wide variety of service to their communities, within their Clubs, with other partner organizations, and in their daily lives. Examples of service activities include visiting senior centers, picking up trash in and around public spaces, sending letters to soldiers, and one of our Cooking Clubs has fed meals to the homeless.
